About Ernestine Smith 

Ernestine was born on February 12, 1941 in Hernandez Mississippi to the late Ernest and Emma Newson.  Ernestine was six years old when we moved to Detroit, Michigan. She was educated in the Detroit public school system. She left school at an early age and returned when she was twenty five (after being married and having five children).  She joined Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church in 1963 under the leadership of the late Rev. James H. Porter and was baptized in 1974.


     She received her GED in 1973.  After raising her five children, she enrolled in William Tyndale Continuing Education Institute in 1983. While attending William Tyndale Continuing Education Institute she realized that she needed a personal relationship with the Lord. She graduated in the spring of 1989 with a Christian Workers Certificate; and enrolled in William Tyndale College in the fall of 1989. While attending William Tyndale College the Lord called her into the ministry. She continued going to William Tyndale College from 1989 to 1998 and earned her Associate of Arts Degree in 1992 and accepted her call into the ministry the same year. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1998.


She enrolled in Destiny School of Ministry in the fall of 2003 and received her ministerial License that same year from Destiny School of Ministry.
She graduated form Destiny School of Ministry in 2005 with a Masters of Theology Degree. She is now serving the Lord through New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. “The Church Were the Spirit of Unity Abides.”
She joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church on February 22, 2004. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Wilma R. Johnson, on December 2, 2007, she was honored to preach her trial sermon at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
