About Sylvia Clark

Sylvia Clark is a woman who deeply loves God and is committed to serving Him in every area of life. She is an ordained Elder and member of Greater Ebenezer Ministries in Detroit, Michigan, under the leadership of Bishop William H. Murphy, Sr., Pastor and Father of Bishops of the Global United Fellowship International.

​A deeply compassionate person, Sylvia is an advocate for the homeless, illiterate, and those with disabilities. Determined that no child she encounters experiences the reading difficulties she faced as a child, Sylvia is the Founder and President of Readers Become Leaders Book Club, a nonprofit organization that "Raises Awareness of the Need to Read." She is also a Certified Literacy Tutor through Pro-Literacy Detroit and the Oakland Literacy Council.

 

A tenacious learner, Sylvia has received a Business School Diploma and completed two years at Macomb Community College. She is currently studying Communications and Creative Writing at Oakland University. Additionally, she is an on-going student at the Greater Ebenezer School of Theological Learning (GESOTL), which is Certified by the Evangelical Training Association (ETA).

A passionate overcomer, Sylvia inspired and encouraged others when she published her first book entitled, “Standing on God’s Promises,” in 2008. In her new book entitled, “Fish Out of Water: Surviving Homelessness Living Out of Your Habitat,” Sylvia shares how God provided during her journey through homelessness, until she became victorious.

A woman passionate about serving her community, she serves on the following committees and affiliates: Salvation Army Advisory Committee of Southeastern Michigan; Recipient Rights Advisory Committee, (Oakland County); Alliance for Housing Board of Directors (Oakland County); Auburn Hills Optimist Club; Toastmasters Zone (A Presidential Distinguished Club); Advisory Board Member of DAPCO, nonprofit organization in Ypsilanti, MI; and a Money Smart Week Partner with (Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago).
A woman serious about legacy, Sylvia pours all she knows about great faith and service, into her three adult children, five grandsons and one granddaughter. She and her family live in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
