About Rennonnia Hastie
Rennonnia (Ronnie) Hastie, is the oldest of five, the mother of two adult daughters, the grandmother of seven, and a widow. Educated in the Detroit Public School System through the twelfth grade and graduated June of 1962 from Northwestern High School.
After working 15 years at a pharmaceutical company doing various jobs and from an inspection line leader to an assistant production coordinator to quality control etc. She worked her way up the corporate ladder until a job-related accident and accepted a medical retirement that was offered.
Her Christian life began in the Church of God in Christ, going with neighbors and Evangelist to church. The Baptist faith was her faith walk while her stepfather lived. She was baptized at the Beacon Lighthouse of Prayer #2 at the age of thirteen. She returned to the Baptist faith at Friendship Baptist Church from 1963 to 1967 with extended family members for five years. At the Wings of Truth full Gospel Church she worked with the thirty-six members Angelic Children’s Choir until 1978. February of 1978 with more responsibilities her family faith walk was under the teachings of Our Lady Gate of Heaven, Roman Catholic Church where her children were being educated.
She became a member of the choir with the intentions of fulfilling her promise to God for sparing her life at age 15. During a lengthy lay-off from her job Sr. Ann Kearney took Ronnonnia under her wing seeing Ronnie's potential possibilities.
She began helping the sick and homebound assisting them in any area of helps that was needed. After mentoring Ronnie for more than 15 years Sr. Ann retired, but always eager to hear what God and Ronnie were doing so she could continue “storming heaven" on Ronnie's behalf. Sr. Rosemarie Keiffer and Dr. Anneliese Sinnott continued God’s plan for Ronnie with Clinical Pastoral Education, (CPE) receiving four units with certificates for each. Also two years of theological education at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, Ronnie received a diploma in Urban Ministry. At Iona College University of Windsor she continued her theological studies working on a bachelors degree.
In 2001 her friend Laura introduced her to the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she continue her faith walk. The ministries she works with are the Quilt ministries, Coraleers Choir, the Circle of Sorrow and Hope, and with the children’s Friday night special. Continued theological education at Christian Leadership Training Institute under the corresponding coordination of Destiny School of Ministries receiving her Bachelors degree in theology May 16 2005. On June 4, 2007 she received her Master’s Degree in Theology through Destiny School of Ministry, which was celebrated by her Pastor Dr. Wilma R. John and New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Family, but also her Thursday craft class at Conant Avenue Methodist Church with Rev. Toddy. She continues her Minstrel Studies at Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD). She praises the Lord for living big in her life.
Her favorite hymn is “Father I stretch my hands to thee, no other help I know!” Her favorite scriptures are Psalm 91 and Psalm 23. Praise the Lord!
