Minister Marva Stafford

About Marva Stafford

Born in Adel, Georgia to Johnnie and Essie Stafford.  The family moved to Detroit when she was three years old.  She has two sisters, Janice and Linda Stafford.  She cherishes the memory of her father by writing poetry in his honor.


Born-again spiritually and Baptized February 5, 1996 in the Jordan River (Holy Land) by Pastor Charles Jones, under the authority of host Pastor Maurice Jones of Pilgrim Rest M.B.C., Grand Rapids. Re-Baptized November 23, 2003 by Pastor Curtis Grant, Zion Hope M.B.C., where she is a Daughter in the Ministry.  With great humility she was the first female minister to Baptize in Zion Hope on September 28, 2003.


Accepting God’s call to preach His anointed word in 2002, she has preached at Zion Hope M.B.C where she serves as an associate minister.  She preaches at her church, local churches and special events.  She serves on the following ministries at her church: Past secretary for the Courtesy Ministry, assistant director of the Sister to Sister Ministry, Youth Sunday school teacher, and minister for the Baptism Ministry. 

Outside affiliations include Director of Operations on the Board of Directors for Daughters of Deborah, Women in Ministry, Inc. and member of the Detroit Police Community Services for Ministers.  She is Resource Librarian on the Board of Directors for The Called and Ready Writers Guild.   Marva is a Medical Affairs Specialist at St. John’s Providence Hospital.


Marva received her license to preach the Gospel from Zion Hope MBC on December 9, 2007. She is a student at Zion Hope’s MIT. In 2005 she received a bachelor’s degree in management from Cornerstone University.  A 2006 graduate from the City of Detroit First All Female Ministers Police Academy.  Marva received ministerial honors at the 2007 Michigan District Baptist Women Association.


Marva writes Spiritual poetry inspired by her developing relationship with the Lord. She has won monetary awards for spiritual essays on Martin L. King. Marva has also received monetary awards for her poetry and writings from the CRW Guild.  She is in the soon to be release Whose Who in Publishing 2008. Her first poetry book is schedule for release in July 2008.  


Marva is passionate about using her greatest gift – Love- for the building of God’s kingdom, especially to the elderly in nursing homes, children and hurting women, through the love of Christ.
